Eggcellent Cafe

This weekend my sister was in town and on Saturday morning after the Surfaces concert we went to Eggcellent Cafe in East Peoria. I have been to this place multiple times before as well. They give you a lot of food for a decent price and it is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast. My sister got the vegetarian benny. This dish included poached eggs, as all eggs Benedict do. It also had spinach, avocado, tomato, and onions. On top they put fresh hollandaise sauce. My sister asked for it on the side though. It also came with a side of breakfast potatoes, which I think are some of the best I have ever had. She loved the meal and said the sauce was "A perfect combination of butter and lemony creaminess." She was also being dramatic by saying that, but I did try the dish and I also loved it. It had pops of flavor with the tomato and avocado, and yes, the sauce was also very delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant for a fairly priced meal.

  2. I love finding breakfast and brunch spots, and I really haven't been able to find many I like here in Peoria, but I'll definitely have to give this one a try! It's always a struggle to find affordable breakfast spots, especially when compared to eating a Clif Bar at home. This meal looks delicious, though, and well worth a few extra dollars. Thanks for the suggestion! - Kathleen McPartland

  3. Breakfast is my favorite type of food, so I was excited to see you did a review on this spot! I've been wanting to try it, but have heard mixed reviews so I wasn't sure if it would be worth it or not. This looks super good though, I think I will definitely have to check it out soon. Right now, Childers is my favorite breakfast spot but maybe this will change! -Emma
